As charges are based on 'per room', having a single person or two persons will not affect the price.

Other hotels nearby:

1. Garden City Hotel http://www.garden-city-hotel.com (see Map)
3-star hotel, within 5-mins walking distance on the same road as Maytower

2. StarPoints Hotel http://www.starpointshotel.com (see Map)
3-star hotel with a 4-star interior. Rooms tastefully done. Facing a busy shopping street. 10-mins walking distance.

3. Tune Hotel Kuala Lumpur http://www.tunehotels.com (see Map)
Tastefully cheap and neat. Pay as you use - including the aircond. Part of Air Asia family. 10-15 mins to the AMG venue by taxi.

If you look closely at the Google map, you will find other accommodation nearby. Hotel Noble (2-3 star), Palace Hotel and others which may be 1-2 star. If price is really your concern, hostel dorms might be the answer (see below).

The following are 4-5 star hotels but requires you to take public transport (most likely taxis) in the mornings

Mandarin Oriental (10-15 mins by taxi) see Map
Renaissance Kuala Lumpur (5-10 mins by taxi) see Map
Hotel Maya (5-10 mins by taxi) see Map
Sheraton Imperial (5-10 mins by taxi or 10 mins walk back road) see Map

For those of you looking for cheaper dormitory-style accommodation, please check out Hostelworld.com.

However, most hostels seem to be located at Jalan Tun H.S. Lee and they are farther away requiring perhaps 20-30 minutes on foot to get to the AMG venue. There are also many one-way streets in this area, so taxis will have to take a longer route. Or you could take the LRT from Pasar Seni LRT Station (map) to the next stop which is Masjid Jamek LRT station and walk from there.

If you insist on staying at Jalan Tun H.S Lee, then take a look at StayOrange.com (map) located in that area (which is probably also listed in Hostelworld.com). It is owned by 4-star Carlton Holiday and Suites and looks comparable to Tune Hotel.

23-25 September, Kuala Lumpur

Pangkor Retreat. Accommodation and transport are inclusive. The hotel chalets (individual wooden huts) all come equipped with air-conditioning, TV (satellite), mini-fridge, tea/coffee-making facilities, telephone and an attached bathroom. Everything a good hotel would have. The only difference is, these are chalets on the beach. Obviously, these are not hostels but please don't expect a 4 or 5-star either.

Prices are based on twin-sharing. If individual rooms are required, please notify the organisers early so that a hotel bedroom in the main building (not a chalet) can be booked. Participants can find their own twin-sharing partner on the trip. Triple-sharing are also allowed in the chalets. Additional mattresses will be delivered at a nominal fee.

chalets

As for transport, we depart in the morning of the 26th from the AMG venue and should arrive at the jetty by noon. We expect to be at the hotel in Pangkor Island at about 2 pm or earlier. Bring your snorkels, swim suits, sun block or sun tan lotion, a book, Kindle or iPad (whatever) or prepare for activities.

You can rent a bicycle, jungle trek (just tell the rest where you're going as the island is not that small), visit interesting places on the island or visit their little town. The arrangements are set and we are ready to go.

pool

The earlier you register, the better the chances are we can get all the chalets that face the sea with completely no obstruction. All for your viewing pleasure. The chalets come with balconies so you would not even need to leave your chalet to be at the beach front.

Participants will have an option of not including the buffets that has been costed into the package.

As mentioned, it is much better than hostel style chalets that are common on the island althought it does not compare to a 4-5 star
